What this guide covers

Between late 2024 and early 2025, the Good Wool Collective recorded interviews with five programmes that offer brands wool from regenerative farms, or a way to cut the emissions of the wool they already buy. The recordings make up the series Benchmarking Regenerative Standards. This guide sets out what each programme said it did, where they differ, and what to ask before you commit to one.

Two things to keep in mind as you read.

  • The five are different kinds of programme. As they described themselves: an index built on a certification, a regenerative programme on top of a farm protocol, a wool broker’s carbon verification, a roadmap of initiatives, and a co-investment programme. The Collective’s benchmarking document classes some of them differently; where it does, both are given.
  • Everything here is as it was described at the time. Many points were plans then: pilots, timelines, data still being built. Before you rely on one, check what has changed since.
